I have always wanted to give a voice to my subjects. That’s really important for me. It’s their reality, and I’m mediating it for the public. And I understand that.

Tim Hetherington in an interview with NewsHour in 2010.  There are several reports that the photographer and filmmaker has been killed in Libya. This attitude was one of my favorite parts about his documentary Restrepo. What a loss.
